Current Position: Senior Project Manager Originally growing up in the automotive industry, Roy worked with his father at a Ford dealership in Northern California. Roy started working early in his life; beginning at age twelve. Roy accelerated his career into Management over fifteen years of service within the network of Ford dealerships. Desiring a change and embracing his true passion of construction, Roy obtained his General Contractors license in 1975. He leveraged his license and built successfully within the residential construction market for more than twelve years.
In 1987, Roy joined Carter-Kelly, Inc. and began expanding his construction knowledge into the commercial side of the industry. He started as a Field Superintendent in the Commercial / Industrial CKI market segments. Roy constructed everything from Banks to Professional Office Buildings to the Kirkwood Ski Resort Lodge & Condominiums in Kirkwood, CA. Later, Roy took on Project Manager Roles within the specialized markets of Educational and Medical facilities construction for CKI. These markets require extensive knowledge within governmental regulatory environments. Roy is one of the CKI resident experts on OSHPD, DSA & OPSC agencies and their associated procedures/requirements. Collectively, he has more than 75 educational facilities projects in his resume. These educational projects range from $200K to over $30M. Through his direct experience with NOA (Naturally Occurring Asbestos) Roy also understands the requirements of DTSC (Department of Toxic Substance Control) and the project limitations caused by NOA.
After more than twenty plus years with Carter-Kelly, Inc. Roy provides leadership and knowledge sharing with other Project Managers at CKI. Roy assists Jim Carter and our company PM’s in the Construction Management best practices of Estimating, Value Engineering, Constructability Reviews and Budgetary Evaluation. When he is not working, Roy enjoys camping and fishing.
